Description

Butyrate is an important short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) produced naturally in the large intestine. It is considered an important source of energy for the epithelial cells that cover it. One of the key functions of the large intestine is the absorption of water and nutrients that could not be assimilated earlier in the digestive process. Bacteria in the large intestine also help to break down undigested elements, such as dietary fiber. Most butyrate in the large intestine is formed when bacteria ferment or break down dietary fiber to create butyrate and other SCFAs. Butyrate is also a source of energy for the rest of the body: it is estimated that SCFAs can account for as much as 5-15% of a human's daily calorie needs. Butyrate Complex provides SCFAs in the form of calcium or magnesium butyrate and is suitable for vegan diets.

Dosage

Adults: Take 1 capsule 3 times daily with meals, a few hours before or after taking other medications or natural health products, or as directed by your healthcare professional.
