Description

Cod liver oil is a source of omega-3 fatty acids and contains high levels of vitamins A and D that support healthy eyes, bones and brain. Vitamin A is necessary for the production of rhodopsin, a pigment in the retinal rods that is used for vision in low light conditions. Omega-3 fatty acids are necessary for the proper development of retinal structure and visual acuity in infants, as retinal rods and cones need DHA to function properly. DHA is also needed to support pre- and postnatal brain development, as high levels are present in neuronal synapses. Vitamin D is used to support bone growth in children and to maintain bone health in adults. Recent research indicates that 600 IU of vitamin D per day serves to maximize bone health in adolescents and adults.

Dosage

Adults: Take 1 teaspoon (5 mL) daily with a meal or as directed by your healthcare professional.
