Description

Cranberry Plus capsules contain a concentrated cranberry fruit extract (Vaccinium macrocarpon) which prevents urinary tract infections while improving antioxidant capacity. About 10-20% of women experience one or more episodes of urinary discomfort or UTI each year. Cranberries are rich in polyphenols, antioxidant compounds like proanthocyanidins, which reduce the adhesion of E. coli bacteria to the uroepithelial cells that line the bladder. In healthy women and in women with a history of bladder infection, supplements containing cranberry extract have been shown to be very effective in drastically reducing the adherence of two strains of E. coli bacteria obtained by urine samples. Regular consumption of cranberry supplements helps reduce the incidence of UTIs in women who are at high risk of contracting such infections, in addition to being able to help improve lower urinary tract infection symptoms in men. Due to their high concentration of polyphenols, cranberries also reduced oxidative stress in healthy participants and those with metabolic syndrome.
