Description

Betaine (trimethylglycine) is a key human nutrient found in most tissues and is endogenously synthesized from choline in the liver and kidneys. Betaine plays several important biological roles, including its role as an osmoprotectant, methyl group donor, reduction of plasma homocysteine levels, and amelioration of inflammation and oxidative stress. 

Hypochlorhydria is common in several medical conditions, including Helicobacter pylori infection, and is prevalent in the geriatric population with atrophic gastritis. Hypochlorhydria can also result from the repeated use of acid-reducing pharmacologic agents. A hydrochloric acid (HCl) supplement such as betaine hydrochloride is very helpful in this scenario, where free HCl is produced by dissociation once it reaches the stomach.

HCl-Pepsin SAP offers an optimal combination of betaine HCl and pepsin that can help support digestion and improve liver function.

Dosage

Adults: Take 1 capsule twice daily with food, or as directed by your health care practitioner.
