Description

PreFoundation provides a complete prenatal multivitamin/mineral, with optimal dosing and bioavailable forms of each nutrient. Vitamin D3 has been shown to restore vitamin D levels more effectively than vitamin D2, with higher maternal levels of vitamin D being linked to a lower risk of ADHD, and supplementation being linked to a lower risk of wheezing in children and at higher birth weight/length. PreFoundation also provides L-5-MTHF, the bioactive form of folate, which bypasses the often impaired enzymatic step necessary for folic acid activation. Therefore, pregnant women taking an L-5-MTHF supplement have been shown to have higher red blood cell folate levels than when they took a folic acid supplement. Better executive function was also observed in children whose mothers took a 5-MTHF supplement during pregnancy.

Potassium iodide is an essential source of iodine, often deficient in women, but linked to the cognitive development of children. Vitamin K2, in the form of menaquinone-7, is known to have a longer half-life than other forms of vitamin K, and has been associated with greater carboxylation of osteocalcin in children, which is essential for optimal bone health. PreFoundation also provides highly bioavailable forms of other vitamins and minerals essential for prenatal health, including the bioavailable citrate forms of calcium, magnesium, zinc and copper, as well as the bisglycinate form of iron, which has been shown to also effective during pregnancy than double the dose of iron generally used. PreFoundation also provides higher forms of B vitamins, including vitamin B12 in the form of methylcobalamin, and the 5'-phosphate forms of riboflavin and vitamin B6.

Dosage

Adults: 1 capsule 3 times a day with a meal. Take a few hours before or after taking other medications or natural health products, or as directed by a health care practitioner.
