Description

Since nutrient and energy needs vary during pregnancy, Pregna Vite provides vitamins and minerals appropriate for the health of the mother and fetus. Some 20 to 30% of women have a vitamin deficiency during pregnancy. Vitamins and minerals, including B vitamins, magnesium and zinc, play a role in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins, and their deficiency is associated with stunted fetal growth and development. Vegetarian diets tend to provide insufficient levels of vitamin B12, which risks leading to red blood cell malformation. Maternal iron levels affect iron stores for fetal development and are necessary for hemoglobin production; Pregna Vite is used to prevent iron deficiency anemia. Calcium requirements also increase during pregnancy, leading to greater calcium absorption from the intestine and its mobilization to the bones. Vitamin D serves to absorb and use calcium and phosphorus for normal bone mineralization. Vitamin D deficiency during pregnancy may lead to problematic fetal bone development or osteomalacia, although 600 IU of vitamin D daily helps maximize bone health in pregnant adults. Daily supplementation of 800 mcg of folic acid during the first trimester could reduce the risk of neural tube defects by almost 70%.

Dosage

Adults: Take three capsules daily with a meal, a few hours before or after taking other medications or as recommended by your healthcare practitioner.
