Description

Betaine HCl and pepsin are natural components of gastric juice that enable the assimilation and biological activity of nutrients. Betaine HCl is an acidic form of betaine that promotes optimal acidity of the gastric lumen; pepsin is a protein-digesting enzyme that catalyzes the dissociation of peptide bonds. Both promote the solubilization of food particles and the healthy absorption and utilization of nutrients, including protein, vitamin B12 and iron. Contact with gastric juices results in the breakdown of proteins and polysaccharides, making them more susceptible to the actions of hydrolytic enzymes in the duodenum and jejunum. With age, as gastric acid secretion decreases, betaine can help replace endogenous gastric acid production and help promote optimal digestion.

Dosage
