Foresterol est un mélange de phytostérols (stérols et stanols végétaux) visant à favoriser un taux de cholestérol sain dans l’organisme tel qu’en témoignent les recherches ainsi que les années d’utilisation en clinique.
Lorsqu’ils sont ingérés, les phytostérols inhibent l’absorption du cholestérol, abaissant ainsi le taux de cho- lestérol total et de lipoprotéines de basse densité (LDL). Foresterol se compose majoritairement des quatre principaux phytostérols : le bêta-sitostérol, le campestérol (sous forme de stérol libre; pas sous forme d’esters de stérol), le campestanol et le sitostanol. Il a été démontré qu’ils inhibent l’absorption du cholestérol, autant alimentaire que biliaire, au niveau de l’intestin grêle; de ce fait, même les végétariens peuvent bénéficier de Foresterol.
Il est important de noter qu’une grande partie du cholestérol présente dans le sérum provient de la réabsorption intestinale du cholestérol, ce dernier étant issu du foie et de la vésicule biliaire.

Foresterol is a blend of phytosterols (plant sterols and stanols) proven by research and years of clinical use to promote healthy cholesterol levels in the body.
When ingested, phytosterols inhibit cholesterol absorption, thereby lowering total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels. Foresterol is primarily composed of the four main phytosterols: beta-sitosterol, campesterol (as free sterol; not as sterol esters), campestanol, and sitostanol. They have been shown to inhibit the absorption of cholesterol, both dietary and biliary, in the small intestine; therefore, even vegetarians can benefit from Foresterol.
It is important to note that a large portion of serum cholesterol comes from intestinal reabsorption of cholesterol, which originates in the liver and gallbladder.
